Make config/export file source control friendly

Hi,
I personally use source control for many of my config files. This not only helps with syncing, but also to see what changed.
It is my understanding that the config is currently saved as one long string json file. This probably saves several (k)bytes of the file size, but is really not source control friendly - keeping track of changes is very difficult.
It would become much better if:
* The json would be saved in pretty-printed, indented form * The order of items would be preserved where possible (sorting them?)
And a similar topic, export files. They look like some binary formats to me. Would it be possible to add a new export format that is more VCS friendly?

I'll take a look into adding this as an option.
