every boot tells me there is a new version of SP.net and asks if I want to download and install.

I initially said yes but after about 3 times I released there was not a new version every day!

I now boot and say No. No biggie. I love SP.net I loved the old version as well. The floater idea is genius!

Thank you

Phillip

Hmm, that's odd.

Are you running the normal install, like to Program Files?
Does it download and start the setup?
If so, does the setup complete successfully?

Yes happens on every boot on both my desktop and ThinkPad Tablet. Both are high end machines with Windows 10 Pro.

Normal install onto C drive in program files.

That is very odd. First of all, I can't see that image you posted, get an error, I think it's because it's a OneDrive link but not shared publicly.

What do you see when you go to this URL: https://www.strokesplus.net/latest.txt

What does your version say in the StrokesPlus.net About section?

Also, download this trace/logging version: https://www.strokesplus.net/files/StrokesPlus.net_Setup_0.2.8.0_Trace.exe

When it starts you'll see a screen with a bunch of check boxes for various things you can log, only check the frmSurfaceGeneralEvents and click OK.

Then open file explorer and browse to C:\Users\{YOUR_USER_NAME}\AppData\Roaming\StrokesPlus.net\Log

You should see a file named with the date/time you opened S+.net, post what it shows in there.

Note: While it won't really hurt anything, it's not recommended you keep the trace version running, as it slows processing down a little and obviously uses up some disk space.

Just download and reinstall the current version again: https://www.strokesplus.net/files/StrokesPlus.net_Setup_0.2.8.0.exe

Wait, are you clicking No to the update?

If so, that would make perfect sense from the code perspective...and it would also make sense why you mentioned the word "nag", haha.

So if you are clicking No and don't want to get these popups, you can go to Options > Advanced and check Disable Update Check.

I can see how perhaps clicking No could mean you don't want the update, and maybe to ask the next time there's another new version?

If you are clicking Yes, then I have no idea why this would be happening!

And yes, there is a 0.2.8.2.

Sometimes I release multiple updates a day, if I'm working on something. Since this is still in an alpha release state, that's the way it goes! You see what I'm working on very quickly.

When I have documentation and script help stuff put together, I think it will be ready for beta release.

Then alpha releases will still be frequent updates, but beta will be slower, and official releases will be much slower to let things settle (and not nag the users!), unless there's a critical issue.
